Shame on Iomega for making such a delicate, unreliable product. It broke on me, and all my music and video files are totally GONE!!! This thing is priced low, but when it comes to electronics, you get what you pay for! If you are a young, college age person who may have to move around a little bit, DO NOT BUY!!! I've been using the Iomega Prestige 1TB external hard drive for about a year as my primary backup resource. I store roughly 200 GB of music and video on this thing, while also using this hard drive to perform weekly system backups of my laptop.

In the year that I've owned this product, it has been 100% reliable. I haven't had any loss of data at all, and this drive has worked perfectly every single time that I've used it. After this experience I will definitely buy an Iomega product again when it comes time to upgrade to a larger drive. -- Quality Construction, Reliable Backup

This is my first ever product review on Amazon...and with GOOD reason. This thing failed on me after a year and a month. Of course the warranty only covers a year...when I tried to call support...it's $25 per incident. Seriously? I have to pay EVEN MORE money to get SUPPORT on YOUR own product? I emailed them and they basically told me I'd have to pay for data recovery and buy a new drive if I wanted to get my files off. THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE MONEY. By making hard drives that are setup to fail after a year and then forcing you to turn around, pay for data recovery, and a new hard drive. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Horrible customer service. HORRIBLE Product. Would not even recommend to my enemies. TRUST IT. -- Warning: DON'T BUY! It Fails!

While not as small as some 500GB external hard drives I've seen, it's easy to use and easy to store when not in use. -- Very easy to use

When I purchased this item in December 2008, it apparently only came with a 1 year warranty instead of the 3 years now offered. In August 2010 (less than 2 years old), it crashed and is now a worthless paperweight. Set up was easy, and it worked fine - for a while. Buyer beware. -- Failed within 2 years
